Megastar Mammooty's "White" and debutant Shane Nigam's "Kismath" were released in Kerala on Friday, July 29, and both the movies have opened to mixed response from the audience.
The first day collection of Uday Ananthan-directed movie "White," which also stars Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, is said to be Rs. 4.89 lakh from the multiplexes in Kochi. It has received a below average opening despite being a movie starring a top actor. Meanwhile, according to trade analysts, Shanavas K Bavakutty's debut directorial venture made a collection of Rs. 2.01 lakh from the multiplexes in the city.
Mammootty plays a billionaire Prakash Roy in the romantic entertainer "White," which is narrated in the backdrop of London. The movie tells the story of a middle-aged man falling in love with 25-year-old Roshni Menon, played by Huma. The actress makes her acting debut in Malayalam opposite the megastar in this movie.
"Kismath" is based on a real life story of a 23-year-old Muslim boy and a 28-year-old Dalit girl that unfolded in Ponnani, Malappuram in 2011. The film marks the debut of comedian Abi's son Shane, in a lead role opposite Shruthy Menon.

Meanwhile, Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Rajisha Vijayan's "Anuraga Karikkin Vellam" has raked in Rs. 1.19 crore from Kochi multiplexes after completing 23 days of theatrical run. However, it is superstar Rajinikanth's "Kabali," which has been listed on the top at the Kochi multiplexes for minting Rs. 1.12 crore within eight days of its release.
