Dhanush-starrer Kodi has retained the top spot at the Chennai box office for the second consecutive week. The movie has a good lead over other big movies like Karthi's Kashmora and Bollywood's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay.
After minting Rs 1.34 crore from 342 shows in the opening weekend, Kodi added Rs 1.79 crore in the next seven days to take its total tally to Rs 3.13 crore, reports Behindwoods. In the second weekend, the movie collected Rs 81.98 lakh from 264 shows.
Kashmora had collected Rs 1.12 crore from 288 shows in the first weekend. It has now ended its 10-day collection at Rs 2.61 crore. In the second weekend, the movie earned Rs 68.98 lakh from 210 shows.
Hollywood movie Doctor Strange has received a good start at the box office. The movie earned Rs 31.41 lakh from 132 shows in the opening weekend. Hindi movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is in the fourth position at the Chennai box office in its second weekend.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had earned Rs 43.25 lakh from 174 shows. The business has been stable for the movie in its second weekend as it has earned Rs 24.36 lakh from 108 shows. The 10-day collection of the movie stands at Rs 1.01 crore.
However, the business of Ajay Devgn's Shivaay witnessed a steep decline in its second weekend. The movie had made a collection of Rs 20.25 lakh from 108 shows. It has raked in only Rs 6.76 lakh from 30 shows in its second weekend to take its 10-day total collection to Rs 42.88 lakh.
Tamil movie Kadalai has entered its second weekend in Chennai, but the biggies from Kollywood and non-Tamil films overshadowed this low-budget film. The total collection of the flick till date is Rs 4.51 lakh.
