Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor-starrer "Ki and Ka" has finished its first week box office run with the third highest collection of 2016. "Ki and Ka" minted Rs. 37.57 crore in seven days from the domestic box office.
R Balki's directorial film had a good opening weekend run, followed by a decent theatrical run during the weekdays. The film, which targeted niche audience, recorded the third highest first week box office collection, after Akshay Kumar's "Airlift" and Fawad Khan and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer "Kapoor and Sons."
"#KiAndKa Fri 7.30 cr, Sat 8.41 cr, Sun 9.52 cr, Mon 3.54 cr, Tue 3.30 cr, Wed 2.82 cr, Thu 2.68 cr. Total: ₹ 37.57 cr. India biz. GOOD!" trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Ki and Ka" is now the fifth highest grosser of 2016 and will soon overpower Farhan Akhtar and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer "Wazir" to take the fourth spot.
Meanwhile, director Balki is happy with the audience's responses and said that they support good films. "I am very happy with the audiences' response and I am so glad that they like the film. Audiences will like the film and if they don't like then it's not a good film at all, very simple, because audiences always supports good film," he told International Business Times India.
While Arjun's movie is doing well at the box office, his sister Sonam Kapoor's film "Neerja" completed 50 days in India. "Neerja," starring Sonam in the titular role, completed 50 days and is still running at some of the theatres in India. However, the box office collection has not showed much growth due to its limited screen count.
"It's 50th day and #Neerja is still running in theatres [at select multiplexes in 8th week]. Total to date: ₹ 75.52 cr. India biz. TERRIFIC!" trade analyst Adarsh tweeted.
