Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut starrer "Katti Batti" had a disappointing first week and John Abraham starrer "Welcome Back" recorded low third week.
Katti Batti
Nikhil Advani's directorial film "Katti Batti" had a poor first week. The film started on an average note and maintained that same pace during the weekends, but the collection dropped during weekdays.
The film minted just Rs 22.58 crore in its first week at the domestic box office, which is lower than Sunny Leone's "Ek Paheli Leela".
"Ek Paheli Leela" had almost the same opening weekend box office collection, but since it maintained well during the weekdays the overall first week earning was good.
"#KattiBatti Fri 5.28 cr, Sat 5.48 cr, Sun 5.51 cr, Mon 1.91 cr, Tue 1.63 cr, Wed 1.41 cr, Thu 1.36 cr. Total: ₹ 22.58 cr. DISAPPOINTING!" trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Welcome Back
Anees Bazmee's directorial film has shattered the lifetime box office collection record of Akshay Kumar's "Baby". The comedy entertainer earned Rs 2.20 crore in its third weekend and approximately Rs 1.5 crore during the weekdays.
"#WelcomeBack [Week 3] Fri 60 lacs, Sat 70 lacs, Sun 90 lacs. Total: â'¹ 94.87 cr. India biz," Adarsh tweeted the third weekend box office collection of "Welcome Back".
The 21-day box office collection of "Welcome Back" stands at approximately Rs 96 crore, which is higher than Akshay's "Baby".
"Baby" managed to earn Rs 95.56 crore in its lifetime run from theatres in India.
Now "Welcome Back" is the fourth highest grosser Bollywood movie of the year, after Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" , Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan starrer "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" and Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor's "ABCD 2".
And if the box office collection of Hindi version of the blockbuster film "Baahubali – The Beginning" (Bahubali) is included then "Welcome Back" becomes the fifth highest grosser.
