Check out the box office collection report of Vijay's "Kaththi," Dinesh's "Thirudan Police", Vemal's "Oru Oorla Rendu Raja" and Vishal's "Poojai."
Kaththi
Vijay's "Kaththi" continues its impressive run at the Chennai box office, despite several new releases hitting the screens.
"Kaththi" is estimated to have grossed ₹7.48 crore at the end of the fourth weekend. The film has witnessed 60 percent average theatre occupancy during the weekend at the Chennai box office, reported Behindwoods.
The action thriller flick has managed to pull in crowds even in its fourth week and has successfully completed a 25-day run in notable number of screens.
"Kaththi" has emerged as the biggest Tamil hit of the year minting more than ₹113 crore at the worldwide box office. The film, which hit the screens on 22 October, performed exceptionally well not just in Tamil Nadu, but also in other key markets like Karnataka, Kerala and overseas locations.
The film's Telugu dubbed version was expected to hit screens this Friday (21 November), but has reportedly been delayed as the makers are hoping for a remake of the action entertainer. Earlier, Pawan Kalyan was shown a special screening of "Kaththi." The actor rejected the film's remake, though he liked the subject.
According to the latest buzz, Telugu actors Allu Arjun and Jr NTR have shown interest in watching "Kaththi." If things fall in place, either of the two actors might reprise Vijay's role in the film's Telugu remake. If the remake does not happen, the makers will reportedly release the Telugu dubbed version of "Kaththi" in the last week of November or after that.
Thirudan Police
Dinesh's "Thirudan Police" has taken decent openings at the Chennai box office. The film, which hit screens on 14 November, has reportedly grossed over ₹34 lakh in its first weekend.
"Thirudam Police" has received positive reviews from critics as well as from the audience. The film has managed to hold well despite facing competition from Vijay's "Kaththi," which is still running successfully in theatres after four weeks of its release.
While the Dinesh starrer has managed to get a decent start in the first weekend, it remains to be seen as to how the film fares during the week days.
Poojai
Vishal's "Poojai" is an average grosser at the Chennai box office. Although the film has lost many shows due to new releases, it has still managed to hold on to some screens in the city theatres. The mass action entertainer has minted over ₹2 crore at the end of the fourth weekend (22 October-16 November).
Oru Oorla Rendu Raja (OORR)
Vemal-Priya Anand's "Ooru Oorla Rendu Raja" has raked in ₹56.52 lakh at the end of the second weekend in Chennai, according to Behindwoods. The film is expected to be a safe venture for its makers and its actual box office status will be known in a few days.
