Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt-starrer "Kapoor and Sons" is the third biggest hit of 2016. The family drama completed three weeks and from 21 days, "Kapoor and Sons" has grossed Rs. 100 crore from the Indian market.
After taking its worldwide gross box office collection to over Rs. 100 crore, now the film has touched the mark in India. "Kapoor and Sons" continues to engage audiences with good occupancy in theatres. The gross box office income of the film is Rs. 102.24 crore, while the net box office collection of the film stands at Rs. 71.57 crore.
"Kapoor and Sons" will soon take its box office income to Rs. 75 crore. The family drama, directed by Shakun Batra, will beat Sonam Kapoor's "Neerja" in India with its Rs. 75 crore box office earnings.
"#KapoorAndSons is nearing ₹ 75 cr mark in the domestic market. EXCELLENT... Week 3 day-wise data in next tweet... #KapoorAndSons [Week 3] Fri 90 lacs, Sat 1.45 cr, Sun 1.60 cr, Mon 70 lacs, Tue 80 lacs, Wed 55 lacs, Thu 50 lacs. Total: ₹ 71.57 cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Kapoor and Sons" is this year's third film to take its gross income to more than Rs. 100 crore. It is also Sidharth's third film, Alia's second film and Fawad's first film to gross Rs. 100 crore, a benchmark used to measure the box office success of the film. However, the film is unlikely to take its net box office collection to Rs. 100 crore mark.
Directed by Batra, the film also features Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapoor in pivotal roles.
