"Jurassic World" has made earth-shattering business in Chennai. In fact, the Hollywood movie overpowered local movies as well in the capital city of Tamil Nadu last weekend.
The English film had 108 shows and it raked in ₹39.73 lakh. In the weekdays, it had 148 shows from which it made a business of ₹27.83 lakh, reports Behindwoods. The total collection of "Jurassic World" by the end of its third weekend amazingly stands at ₹2.52 crore, which is a big number for a non-Tamil movie in Chennai.
According to the trade, it seems there is still a good buzz for "Jurassic World" in Chennai and the movie is likely to continue its dream run for a few more weeks. The movie is pulling the family audience to theatres. As a result, last week's release "Indru Netru Naalai" was pushed to the second position at the Chennai box office.
"Indru Netru Naalai" has got above-average opening. The Tamil film also had 108 shows and it collected ₹35.15 lakh. The Tamil film has got positive reviews from critics and is getting good word-of-mouth from the audience. Hence, it should do well in the coming days.
"Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka", which also released last Friday, has raked in ₹24.94 lakh from 108 shows. This film has got decent reviews. Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani starrer "Romeo Juliet" is still in the theatres and is making good business even in its third week.
"Romeo Juliet" made ₹16.85 lakh from 63 shows at the Chennai box office. In the weekdays, it had 168 shows and raked in ₹34.90 lakh. By the end of its third weekend, the total business of the film stands at ₹2.26 crore.
