Arya and Anushka Shetty starrer "Inji Iduppazhagi" has failed miserably at the Malayasian box office, while Hindi movie "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has done remarkable business.
By the end of its second weekend, "Inji Iduppazhagi" could only make a meagre Rs 3.36 lakh. In the first weekend, it had earned Rs 1.88 lakh. The bad word-of-mouth around the movie played the spoilsport for the flick. In fact, this is the worst performance of an Anushka Shetty starrer movie in recent times.
The other big Tamil movie that was screened in Malaysia was Ajith's "Vedalam", which ended its fourth weekend by making a total business of Rs 3.72 crore. This film has also slowed down at the collection centres.
However, Salman Khan's Hindi movie "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has come out with flying colours. The Bollywood film has taken its total collection to Rs 33.69 lakh, which is said to be a good number for a Hindi film in Malaysia.
But Salman Khan's previous movie "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" had performed better than "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" by the end of its fourth weekend by earning Rs 39.11 lakh.
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" made a business of around Rs 43 crore in its lifetime in Malaysia and it has to be seen whether his latest movie "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" would beat this record. Going by the current trend, it is unlikely to surpass the collection of Salman Khan's previous record.
"Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" stars Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. Sooraj Barjatya has written and directed the Bollywood movie. At the worldwide box office, "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" has grossed more than Rs 400 crore and is now the fifth highest grosser of all time. It is also getting closer to the Rs 100 crore mark (alone from the overseas box office).
