The adult comedy "Great Grand Masti" (Masti 3) starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Urvashi Rautela, had a dull opening on Friday at the box office. "Great Grand Masti," which was leaked online before its release, earned less than Rs. 5 crore on its opening day.
"Great Grand Masti" earned Rs. 2.50 crore on its opening day, which is 80 percent less than the opening day box office collection of the second instalment "Grand Masti." The Indra Kumar directorial is the third film in the "Masti" franchise. While "Masti" and "Grand Masti" were loved by all and opened at the box office with grand figures, the third instalments failed to create the same magic.
"#GreatGrandMasti Fri ₹ 2.50 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The Riteish, Vivek and Aftab-starrer carried a positive buzz before its release, but the online piracy issue affected the overall buzz. The film was initially scheduled to release on July 22, but the release date got advance after the full movie leaked online. The censor copy of the "Great Grand Masti," which was leaked two weeks before its release, was downloaded and watched by several before its theatrical release. The online leak and negative reviews from the critics took a toll on the film's box office collection due to which the film had a poor opening.
"Great Grand Masti" will have to show a good growth over the weekend to sail safely at the box office. However, it is unlikely that the film will have a positive growth at the box office.
Directed by Indra, the film features Riteish, Vivek, Aftab and Urvashi in the lead roles. The adult comedy also features Pooja Bose, Shraddha Das, Mishti, Usha Nadkarni and Sanjay Mishra in the pivotal roles.
