Ram Charan's "Govindudu Andarivadele" ("GAV") is making use of the long weekend and is performing well at the AP/Nizam box office.
"GAV" minted ₹8.55 crore share on the first day of its release. Although the film's collections dropped on the second day, it has continued to maintain its business in the last couple of days owing to long weekend. The Ram Charan starrer has minted ₹19.9 crore share in four days at the AP/Nizam box office, according to Andhraboxoffice.
It has surpassed the first week collections of Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu" and Jr NTR's "Rabhasa," which had amassed ₹19.25 crore and ₹18.17 crore, respectively.
"GAV," deemed as a family entertainer, received good reviews from the critics. Audience also seems to have liked the film which is evident from its collections. The Ram Charan starrer is likely to continue its good run on Sunday as well as Monday. The Andhra and Telangana governments have announced public holiday on Monday (6 October) owing to Bakrid. It will definitely help in boosting the collections of "GAV" in its opening week.
The Ram Charan starrer is also doing good business in the US and raked in $300,000 in just two days (including premier shows and non-reported rentrak) at the US box office. The film has failed to beat the collections of "Aagadu" which had minted $1million in just two days including premieres. "AAGADU becomes the first movie to cross 1M mark by end of first day (including premiers on thursday)..," Anil Sunkara of 14 Reels Entertainment, producers of "Aagadu," had tweeted.
"GAV" is likely to continue its good business in its second week as there are no big releases. Naga Chaitanya's "Oka Laila Kosam" is expected to hit the screens on 17 October. Until then, "GAV" is likely to dominate the screens. The release of Oka Laila Kosam" might reduce the screen count for Ram Charan's film and affect its business.
"GAV" is Ram Charan's second festival release of the year after "Yevadu," which hit theatres during Sankranti festival period. The action entertainer turned out to be a huge hit at the box office. With "GAV" doing good business, it is expected to become another hit in the actor's career. The film's overall box office status will be known in a few weeks.
