Sunny Deol's revenge action drama "Ghayal Once Again" has opened well at the box office, while Harshvardhan Rane starrer "Sanam Teri Kasam" had an average opening.
Ghayal Once Again
Deol's "Ghayal Once Again" (Ghayal Returns) is a sequel to his blockbuster movie "Ghayal" released in 1990. "Ghayal Once Again" carried a good hype due to the franchise factor. The film got an opening of around Rs 7.20 crore from the domestic market.
"#GhayalOnceAgain Fri ₹ 7.20 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The opening day occupancy was good at single screens, while that in multiplexes was on the lower side. "Ghayal Once Again" performed well in the North circuits, including UP, Bihar and Central India.
Though the film opened on a good note, it needs to show a good jump during the weekend to get a good three-day box office collection. Also, the film has been made on a decent budget and if reports are to be believed then the actor has even mortgaged his dubbing and recording studio to make "Ghayal Once Again."
Directed by Deol, the film features Soha Ali Khan, Om Puri and Tisca Chopra in pivotal roles. The film also features Shivam Patil, Aanchal Munjal, Narendra Jha, Manoj Joshi and others in supporting roles.
Sanam Teri Kasam
Romantic film "Sanam Teri Kasam," starring Telugu star Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, earned approximately Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day.
"#SanamTeriKasam Fri ₹ 1.25 cr. India biz," Adarsh added.
"Sanam Teri Kasam" has released in approximately 800 screens in India. The opening was average and it is unlikely that the film will show a good growth over the weekend, as the reviews are negative. The film is also facing a tough competition from "Ghayal Once Again" and Akshay Kumar's "Airlift."
Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the film marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actress Hocane.
