Shah Rukh Khan's "Dilwale" has emerged as the winner at the Malaysian box office. The most surprising part is that the Hindi movie has dominated Dhanush starrer "Thanga Magan" in the second weekend.
While the Malaysian market has always been good for Tamil films, only a few Hindi films have done well here in the last few years. Shah Rukh Khan's previous outing "Happy New Year" had done a decent business here, but his latest flick has turned out to be a big hit.
Bollywood Hungama reports that "Dilwale", which had earned Rs 26.68 lakh from 10 screens in the first weekend, has added Rs 1.20 crore more to its tally to take its 10-day collection to Rs 1.48 crore. Apparently, the screen count has been increased to 14 after the opening weekend. The Bollywood flick remains in the numero uno position among the Indian films in Malaysia.
On the other hand, Dhanush's "Thanga Magan", which clearly dominated "Dilwale" in the first weekend by raking in Rs 50.06 lakh could only add Rs 46+ lakh to end the 10-day collection at Rs 96.34 lakh. The film is still being played in 21 screens.
Another release "Bajirao Mastani" has failed to pull the audience in big numbers. The total collection of Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie now stands at Rs 8.73 lakh.
"Dilwale" is expected to do well for at least a week and it might end up being the highest-grossing film of Shah Rukh Khan in Malaysia. Meanwhile, the Bollywood flick has crossed the 100-crore-mark in India and has grossed over Rs 110 crore overseas.
"Dilwale", directed by Rohit Shetty, stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
