Priyanka Chopra's "Dil Dhadakne Do" took a flying start at the box office, but the figures suggest family audience could be enjoying Kangana Ranaut's "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" more.
According to a DNA report, on Monday the Aanand L Rai directorial collected ₹8.90 crore, whereas "DDD" earned ₹5.70 crore. Additionally, the opening weekend numbers pushe "TWMR" an inch closer to the finish line, meanwhile Zoya Akhtar's film made ₹37.05 crore in the first three days, which is roughly a crore less.
Also, the report suggests weekdays have been strong for Kangana's rom-com, whereas the earnings of the big budget film have dipped.
However, both the films boast of new and fresh characters. While Kangana shines in a double role – Kusum Sangwan aka Datto and Tanuja Trivedi – in the rom-com, Priyanka plays an elite entrepreneur grappling with life's many problems.
In other news, "TWMR" enjoyed a strong word of mouth and positive reviews, whereas the multi-starrer opened to mixed reactions by the critics.
