Aamir Khan starrer "Dhoom 3" is set to become the highest grosser Indian film ever, after edging closer to beating "Krrish 3" record. The film is currently at second spot with total earnings of ₹241.92 crore.
"Dhoom 3" is the next installment film of the "Dhoom" series and will now beat "Krrish 3" in its second week.
"Krrish 3" lifetime earnings stands at ₹244 crore, and the Yash Raj production film requires only ₹3 crore more to reach the target.
"Dhoom 3- All Languages 2nd Tuesday Hindi ₹ 7.09 Cr Tamil & Telugu ₹ 0.17 Cr Total ₹ 7.26 Cr Grand Total:- ₹ 241.92 Cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"#Dhoom3 [Week 2]: Hindi ₹ 51.41 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 1.53 cr. Total: Hindi ₹ 230.38 cr, Tamil & Telugu ₹ 11.54 cr. Grand total: ₹ 241.92 cr."
"Dhoom 3" business on its second Tuesday went up by 10 to 20 percent in several circuits across the country due to holidays. The occupancy on second Wednesday is also expected to be high due to New Year's Day holiday in several parts of the country.
Before moving out of the theaters, "Dhoom 3" will set a new benchmark for all the upcoming films.
Only four films are there in the ₹200 crore club, and two of them feature Aamir in the lead role. "3 Idiots" was the first film that made it to the double century group, while "Dhoom 3" is the new entry.
Apart from them, "Chennai Express", starring Shah Rukh Khan, and "Krrish 3", starring Hrithik Roshan, have also made it to the double century club.
