Aamir Khan starrer "Dhoom 3" dominated "Sholay 3D" and "Mr Joe B Carvalho" in its third week. While the action thriller and "Sholay 3D" finished their respective week with decent figures, "Mr Joe B Carvalho" had a dismissal performance.
"Dhoom 3" managed to collect ₹20.42 crore in its third week from the domestic box office. The film's total now stands at ₹277.73 crore. On its third Friday "Dhoom3" managed to rake in ₹1.64 crore.
"Dhoom 3- All Languages 3rd Thursday Hindi Rs 1.60 Cr Tamil & Telugu Rs 0.04 Cr Total Rs 1.64 Cr Grand Total:- Rs 277.73 Cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Due to no major release in its second and third week, the film managed to fare well at the collection centers. Aamir believes the marketing strategy, of not promoting the film on reality shows and not releasing full songs, have helped the business.
"We want you to enjoy this film in the theatre. If I have seen the song on TV 20 times and on YouTube 20 times, when it comes in the film, I have lost interest in those five minutes. But when you are seeing it for the first time, your curiosity is piqued," Khan told Reuters.
However, the business of the film would be affected with the release of Madhuri Dixit Nene's "Dedh Ishqiya". The comedy thriller has opened to rave reviews and is likely to open with a bang on Friday.
Meanwhile, last week's release "Sholay 3D" finished its first week with ₹8.7 crore earnings. The classic, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in lead roles, had a decent first week. The film was released in a limited 500 screens in India.
