Santhanam has registered his first hit at the box office. His latest movie "Dhilluku Dhuddu" has done exceedingly well in Chennai in its second weekend, despite facing competition from a few movies, including Hollywood movie "Ice Age: Collision Course."
"Dhilluku Dhuddu" has enjoyed good occupancy rate during the weekend. The good word-of-mouth has done the magic for the Tamil movie at the box office as family audience and youths thronged the theatres in big numbers. As per Behindwoods, it has raked in Rs. 1.07 crore from 279 shows to take its 10-day total tally to Rs. 3.35 crore. It may be recalled that the flick had collected Rs. 1.48 crore in the opening weekend.
"Ice Age: Collision Course" has earned Rs. 77.34 lakh from 204 shows. This is the latest English movie to join the long list of hit films in Chennai after "The Legend of Tarzan," "The Conjuring 2" and "The Jungle Book."
Bollywood movie "Sultan" had a good weekend at the Chennai box office. The movie has raked in Rs. 27.58 lakh from 93 shows to take its 12-day collection to Rs. 1.97 crore.
Samuthirakani's "Appa" has collected Rs. 13.79 lakh from 93 shows to take its total tally to Rs. 84.69 lakh by the end of its third weekend.
The business of "Jackson Durai" saw a huge dip in its third weekend as the movie could only collect Rs. 3.68 lakh from 27 shows to take its total tally to Rs. 1.59 crore.
Meanwhile, all the aforementioned movies are expected to be affected by "Kabali," which hits screens on July 22. The majority of the multiplexes are dedicating its screens to Rajinikanth's film, which will release worldwide in over 5000 screens.
