The tickets sale of e-motional family drama "Piku" might have declined at the box office but it hasn't had much effect on the collection even during the weekdays.
Shoojit Sircar's critically acclaimed directorial film has now crossed the ₹50 crore mark at the worldwide box office. The domestic and overseas box office collection of "Piku" stands at ₹52.24 crore.
The family drama film, which features Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles, accumulated ₹37.72 crore in six days from Indian market.
"#Piku Fri 5.32 cr, Sat 8.70 cr, Sun 11.20 cr, Mon 4.40 cr, Tue 4.10 cr, Wed 4 cr. Total: ₹ 37.72 cr. India biz. FANTASTIC," trade analyst Taran Adrash tweeted.
Deepika-Amitabh-Irrfan starrer "Piku" minted ₹ 14.52 crore from overseas box office in its opening weekend.
"#Piku is EXTRAORDINARY in international markets too. Opening weekend total: $ 2.273 million [₹ 14.52 cr]. BIGGEST OPENER 2015 Overseas," Adarsh tweeted the overseas figure.
"Piku" is one the most successful films of Bollywood in 2015. The box office collection increased by almost 60% on second day compared to its opening day. Even Akshay Kumar's "Baby" hadn't shown such growth in its business when it was releases in January.
Meanwhile, along with "Piku" Sunny Leone's "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" was released on 8 May, but the latter crashed at the box office. The sex comedy, also starring Ram Kapoor, has so far minted approximately ₹2.63 crore.
While Leone's "Ek Paheli Leela" performed well at the box office, her latest release "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" has turned out to be a disaster.
