Madhuri Dixit Nene starrer "Dedh Ishqiya" finally faired better than "Yaariyan" at the box office on Friday. In its first week "Dedh Ishqiya" collections had remained low compared to "Yaariyan" but the comedy thriller opened to a good response in its second week.
"Dedh Ishqiya" accumulated around ₹1crore on second Friday, while "Yaariyan" aggregated around ₹70-75 lakhs nett.
The eight-day total of "Dedh Ishqiya" now stands at ₹20.64 crore, while "Yaariyan" total is ₹32.25 crore.
Here is the first week breakup of both films, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The second week earnings of "Dedh Ishqiya" is expected to be better than "Yaariyan" but the overall total of the Madhuri starrer will be still lower than the latter.
"Dedh Ishqiya", directed by Abhishek Choubey, had a dull release in the international market. The first week total of the comedy thriller was $ 876,000 [₹ 5.39 cr].
"Yaariyan", starring newcomers Himanshu Kohli, Dev Sharma, Serah Singh, Rakul Preet Singh and Nicole Faria, will also earn more from satellite rights.
"Although, Yaariyan opened with a bang, because of its fabulous music and marketing efforts, Dedh Ishqiya grew by the day on pure merit. As I see it, both the films may end up in the same range at the domestic box-office, but Yaariyan has the advantage of being picked up easily for satellite rights, a fact that has been exploited well by T-Series," exhibitor Akshaye Rathi told Financial Express.
