Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster hit "Chennai Express" box office run hasn't stopped yet in overseas market. Rohit Shetty's family entertainer film scored in approximately ₹2 crore from 10 theaters in Egypt, taking the overall overseas total to ₹121 crore, according to Koimoi.com
The action-romantic comedy was released on 2 October in Egypt, thus marking the arrival of Hindi films after 25 years in the country.
India's ambassador to Egypt Navdeep Suri in September announced the return of Bollywood in the country.
"Screening of Chennai Express in 10 theatres next week marks return of #BollywoodinEgypt after 25 years. With the notable exception of My Name is Khan which was brought by Fox in 2010 and was a big hit #BoolywoodinEgypt (sic)," Suri said on his Twitter page.
The action comedy was released in eight theatres in Cairo and two theatres in Alexandria, which includes all major theatres and multiplexes, Press Trust of India reported.
Other big films such as Hrithik Roshan's "Krrish 3" and Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" will also release in the country with Arabic subtitles.
"Chennai Express" also starring Deepika Padukone became the highest grosser film ever in the history of Indian cinema, after breaking the record of "3 Idiots".
However, the film failed to break the overseas record of "3 Idiots" which earned $ 25 million.
