Hollywood film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" had a decent opening weekend in India, while the Bollywood flick "Queen" starring Kangana Ranaut is still running at the worldwide box office.
Directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" has accumulated ₹9.2 crore from its opening weekend in India, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
"#CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier Fri ₹2.4 cr, Sat ₹3.5 cr, Sun ₹3.3 cr. Total: ₹9.2 cr nett. Good growth on Sat, minimal drop on Sun. Good," he tweeted.
The film starring Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson among others is creating history worldwide. It has fetched in record breaking $96.2 million in North America for an early worldwide total of $303.3 million, Hollywood Reporter reported.
The film is running in the second place in India after "Main Tera Hero" starring Varun Dhawan.
Meanwhile, "Queen" entered its fifth week and is still running at several theaters in India as well as the international market.
The women oriented film has taken its domestic total to ₹59.50 crore nett.
"#Queen [Week 5] Fri ₹25 lacs, Sat ₹55 lacs, Sun ₹50 lacs, Mon ₹20 lacs. Grand total: ₹59.50 cr nett. India biz," Adarsh tweeted.
In international market, the film is leading at the US box office with ₹6.75 crore after fifth weekend.
"#Queen [total after Wknd 5] USA ₹6.75 cr ... Canada ₹1.23 cr ... UK ₹1.86 cr. Excellent," Adarsh tweeted.
"Queen" has fared exceptionally well in India and overseas market with collections going up in the first and second week.
