"Brahmotsavam" has done superb business at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows on Thursday night and it has become the biggest opener for superstar Mahesh Babu, beating the collection records of "Srimanthudu" and "Aagadu."

Classic Entertainment has acquired the overseas distribution rights of "Brahmotsavam" for a whopping price of Rs. 13.20 crore. The distribution house held premiere shows of the film in the U.S., U.A.E. and a few other international markets on Thursday night. The movie had paid preview shows in over 100 screens in the U.S., where Mahesh Bahu is the most popular Telugu actor.
"Brahmotsavam" has received decent response in preview shows in all the international markets. According to hourly estimates, the Srikanth Addala directorial has collected $425,933 from 127 screens at the U.S. box office till 12:15 a.m. Box Office Telugu tweeted, "#Brahmotsavam $425,933 from 127 screens as of 12:15 am."
The numbers of "Brahmotsavam" are still being compiled and the trends show that its total collection is expected to cross the mark of $600,000 at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows. "Aagadu" collected $533K at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows and it is the biggest opener for Mahesh Babu in the country. His last outing "Srimanthudu," which raked in $500K in paid preview, had failed to beat its record. As per early trends, "Brahmotsavam" will shatter both the records and emerge as the biggest opener for the superstar.
"Sardar Gabbar Singh" collected $616K at the U.S. box office in the preview shows and become the biggest opener of 2016 and the second biggest opening Telugu film of all time after "Bahubali: the Beginning," which grossed $1,010,550 from the premiere shows. As per early trends, "Brahmotsavam" may not beat the record of power star Pawan Kalyan's recent film.
"Brahmotsavam" has been released in over 200 screens in the U.S. and 100 screens in other foreign markets on May 20. The movie has got mixed reviews from the viewers and the word of the mouth is likely to affect its business.
