Jayam Ravi and Trisha Krishnan starrer "Bhooloham" has performed exceedingly well and children's movie "Pasanga 2" is off to a good start at the Chennai box office. The two movies dominated the market and overpowered "Bajirao Mastani", "Dilwale" and "Thanga Magan".
In the opening weekend, "Bhooloham" has raked in Rs 1.04 crore from 177 shows, reports Behindwoods. The film enjoyed superb occupancy and the four-day weekend turned out to be a blessing for the flick. The good word-of-mouth and reviews from critics helped the film in a big way.
"Pasanga 2" got mixed reviews but performed well raking in Rs 60.37 lakh, which is a good collection considering it is a children's film. The Tamil flick had 165 shows and had lesser occupancy than "Bhooloham".
Previous week's release "Thanga Magan" was affected by new films. The Dhanush starrer raked in Rs 43.19 lakh from 156 shows and the total collection of the movie at Chennai box office in 10 days now stands at Rs 2.76 crore.
Hollywood film "Stars Wars: The Force Awakens" performed well despite facing huge competition. The flick had 108 shows from which it minted Rs 31.37 lakh in Chennai.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hindi movie "Bajirao Mastani" holds well in its second weekend. It had raked in only Rs 39.78 lakh from 144 shows in the opening weekend and it minted Rs 14.45 lakh from 57 shows. The total 10-day collection stands at Rs 83.48 lakh, which is a good for a Bollywood flick in Chennai.
"Dilwale", which had performed better than "Bajirao Mastani", saw a drop in collection. It collected Rs 14.33 lakh from 57 shows after making Rs 51.28 lakh in the first weekend. By the end of 10 days, it has made Rs 96.87 lakh.
Adharvaa starrer "EettI" survived in some theatres despite so many movies being released in the last two weeks. It did notable business of Rs 3.08 lakh from 24 shows to take its total tally to Rs 1.48 crore.
