After making it in the Rs 100 crore club, Ranveer Singh's "Bajirao Mastani" shattered the lifetime box office collection record of Salman Khan's movie "Ready", Hindi version of "Baahubali" and "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela". In the list of top Bollywood earner, "Bajirao Mastani" has taken the 21st spot.
"Bajirao Mastani" earned Rs 34.3 crore in its second weekend, which took its 10-day total to Rs 120.45 crore. The 10-day box office earnings of "Bajirao Mastani" is more than Salman's "Ready" (119.78 crore), Prahas starrer "Baahubali" (Rs 118.7 crore) and "Ram-leela" (Rs 116.33 crore).
"#BajiraoMastani continues EXCELLENT trending in Weekend 2: Fri 12.25 cr, Sat 10.30 cr, Sun 11.75 cr. Total: ₹ 120.45 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The historical period drama is now racing ahead of Shah Rukh Khan's "Dilwale" at the domestic box office. In India, "Bajirao Mastani" earned Rs 120.45 crore while on the same day "Dilwale" earned Rs 123.88 crore. Before the release of both the films, it was speculated that "Dilwale" would win the box office war, but now the table has turned in "Bajirao Mastani" favour.
Except for the opening weekend, "Dilwale" remained behind "Bajirao Mastani". Rohit Shetty's directorial film did not witness any major jump in its box office collection in the second weekend, thus raking in approximately Rs 21.23 crore. Compared to opening weekend, "Dilwale" witnessed a decline of around 67 percent in second weekend, while "Bajirao Mastani" drop was only 26 percent.
"#Dilwale doesn't witness major spurt in biz, despite holidays. [Week 2] Fri 8.11 cr, Sat 6 cr, Sun 7.12 cr. Total: ₹ 123.88 cr. India biz. 2nd weekend biz at a glance:- #Dilwale ₹ 21.23 cr ... #BajiraoMastani ₹ 34.30 cr ... COMBINED 2nd weekend total: ₹ 55.53 cr. India biz," box office analyst Adarsh tweeted.
"Bajirao Mastani" is now the 21st highest grosser, while "Dilwale" is the 19th highest earner. But Ranveer's film will soon takeover Shah Rukh's film business in India with its net income.
