Sundar C directorial "Aranmanai 2" and Madhavan starrer "Irudhi Suttru" ruled the Chennai box office this weekend, while "Bangalore Naatkal" and "Visarani" made decent collection in its first weekend.
"Aranmanai 2" has collected Rs 65.89 lakh from 174 shows in Chennai, reports Behindwoods. The horror-thriller had earned Rs 1.12 crore in its first weekend. The 10-day total collection of the movie stands at Rs 2.35 crore. The industry has declared this flick as a hit film.
Madhavan's "Irudhi Suttru" raked in Rs 59.95 lakh from 177 shows. In the opening weekend, it had done Rs 67.19 lakh business. The 10-day collection of the sports-drama stands at Rs 1.96 crore at the Chennai box office.
Latest release "Bangalore Naatkal," which features Arya, Sri Divya, Bobby Simha, Rana Daggubati, Raai Laxmi, Parvathy and Samantha in the lead roles, is in the third position in Chennai as it earned Rs 56.65 lakh from 168 shows. The movie has opened to mixed talks and it is interesting to see how the movie will perform in the coming days.
Vetrimaaran's "Visaranai" has collected Rs 38.88 lakh from 153 shows in Chennai. The positive word-of-mouth boosted the collection of the Tamil film.
Interestingly, Malayalam movie "Action Hero Biju" starring Nivin Pauly is off to a good start in Chennai. The film has collected Rs 9.03 lakh from 42 shows. However, Prashanth's "Saahasam" has performed poorly in its first weekend. It has earned Rs 6.53 lakh from 51 shows.
Bollywood film "Airlift" raked in Rs 3.5 lakh from 27 shows in Chennai. The total collection of the film by the end of its third weekend stands at Rs 93.24 lakh.
Sivakarthikeyan's "Rajini Murugan" has collected Rs 1.72 lakh from 18 shows to take its total collection to Rs 3.52 crore at the Chennai box office.
