Akshay Kumar-starrer "Housefull 3" has shattered the collection records of Shah Rukh Khan's film in India. "Housefull 3" broke the lifetime box office collection of "Fan" (Rs. 84.10 crore) to become the second highest grosser of 2016.
"Housefull 3," a comedy-drama directed by Sajid-Farhad, had a good second-weekend box office run in India. The movie minted Rs. 3.50 crore on its second Friday; on Saturday, the film showed over 44 percent growth and on Sunday, it recorded a growth of 90 percent.
The second-weekend box office collection of the film is: Rs. 3.50 crore on Friday, Rs. 5.05 crore on Saturday and Rs. 6.65 crore on Sunday. The 10-day domestic box office collection of "Housefull 3" stands at Rs. 95.30 crore.
"#Housefull3 collects ₹6.65 cr on Sunday. Week one total: ₹80.10cr Second weekend total: ₹15.20 Total: ₹95.30 cr nett India," trade analyst Joginder Tuteja tweeted.
The comedy-drama is now set to take its nett box office collection to Rs. 100 crore mark, which is expected to be hit by the second-week. "Housefull 3" will be Akshay's second consecutive film to cross Rs. 100 crore mark in India. "Airlift," released in January this year, was Akshay's first Rs. 100 crore earner of 2016.
On the other hand, "Housefull 3" shattered the records of his three films that released last year. In 2015, Akshay had four back-to-back releases and out of the four films, "Housefull 3" shattered the records of "Gabbar Is Back" (Rs. 87.55 crore), "Brothers" (Rs. 82.47 crore) and "Singh is Bliing" (Rs. 89.95 crore). Adding second Monday's total, the film will also beat the lifetime collection records of "Baby" (Rs. 95.56 crore).
Directed by Sajid-Farhad, the comedy-drama features Akshay, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey in pivotal roles.
