Akshay Kumar is ruling the box office this year with two back-to-back hits. His last release "Airlift" became a blockbuster and now "Housefull 3" is on the verge to achieve that status.
Akshay, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh-starrer "Housefull 3" has become the second film of 2016 to cross Rs. 100 crore mark with its nett box office collection. The first film to cross Rs. 100 crore mark is Akshay's "Airlift."
The comedy-drama, directed by Sajid-Farhad, is the second "Housefull" franchise film to make it to the century club, first being the "Housefull 2." The Akshay-starrer comedy drama has minted Rs. 99.65 crore nett collection until second Tuesday and by just adding the second Wednesday's morning and afternoon total, the collection has crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, confirming the news, tweeted that "Housefull 3" has indeed taken its domestic nett earnings to more than Rs. 100 crore.
"#Housefull3 [Week 2] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 6.65 cr, Mon 2.30 cr, Tue 2.05 cr. Total: ₹ 99.65 cr. India biz... #HF3," Adarsh tweeted, adding: "#Housefull3 crosses ₹ 100 cr in morning/noon shows today [Wednesday]. India biz... #HF3."
"Housefull 3," which was released in over 3,700 screens across India, is Akshay's fifth film to enter the century club. His first Rs. 100 crore grosser is 2012 "Rowdy Rathore," which remains his biggest hit with Rs. 133 25 crore collection, followed by "Airlift," which raked in Rs. 128.1 crore, "Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty" is Akshay's third biggest grosser with Rs. 112.18 crore and "Housefull 2" is fourth highest grosser with Rs. 106 crore.
For Abhishek and Riteish, "Housefull 3" is the fourth film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark.
Directed by Sajid-Farhad, the comedy-drama features Akshay, Abhishek, Riteish, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey in pivotal roles.
