Box office collection: Adivi Sesh's Goodachari emerges winner; beats Chi La Sow and Brand Babu

Adivi Sesh's Goodachari has made a better collection than Chi La Sow and Brand Babu at the worldwide box office in three days and emerged as the winner of the weekend.

Goodachari, Chi La Sow and Brand Babu are small budget Telugu movies, which were released in cinema halls on August 3. All the three movies had decent hype and promotions, but Chi La Sow had an upper hand with Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya rigorously promoting it on social media. Many expected it to lead the race at the box office by getting a bigger opening and making a good collection.

But the Rahul Ravindran-directed romance drama opened to an average response on Friday. Chi La Sow received a positive talk from everyone, but the word of mouth failed to boost its collection on the following days.

The movie collected approximately Rs 3.50 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. The film is estimated to have earned Rs 1.43 crore for its distributors in three days.

On the other hand, the Adivi Sesh starrer surprised everyone by registering a fantastic response on its opening day. Goodachari collected Rs 2.95 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day. The movie earned Rs 1.25 crore for its global distributors on Friday.

The Sashi Kiran Tikka-directed spy thriller garnered positive talk from everyone and the word of mouth helped it fare well on Saturday and Sunday. Goodachari collected Rs 10.20 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend.

In three days, the film earned Rs 4.50 crore for its distributors, who have shelled out Rs 5 crore on its theatrical rights. The film is heading to become a blockbuster.

However, another new release opened to poor response and could not show improvement ins collection on Saturday and Sunday. Brand Babu is estimated to have collected less than Rs 2 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. The movie has landed in the third rank in the box office race.
