Silambarasan and Gautham Menon's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is off to a decent start at the Malaysian box office, while the business of Deepavali releases like Kodi, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Kashmora have slowed down at the collection centres.
Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has earned Rs 21.52 lakh from 11 screens in the first weekend in Malaysia. The screen count is less for a movie starring Simbu. As it is not a complete mass entertainer, the flick was released in a fewer number of screens. Interestingly, Kaashmora and Kodi, which were released for Deepavali festival, had more number of screens than the Simbu-starrer.
While Kashmora had 16 screens, Kodi had 13 screens. Yet the Tamil movies could not perform better than the Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada.
In its third weekend, Kashmora has earned Rs 3.67 lakh to take its total tally to Rs 1.56 crore and Kodi has collected Rs 1.68 lakh, thereby taking its total to Rs 1.33 crore.
On the other hand, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which had opened in 12 screens, was reduced to five screens in its third weekend. Yet, the Karan Johar-directorial performed better than Kodi as it earned Rs 3.24 lakh in its third weekend. Till date, the Bollywood flick has earned Rs 28.24 lakh at the Malaysian box office.
Other new Tamil release Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum failed to set the box office on fire. The movie has collected Rs 1.45 lakh from 11 screens in its first weekend. Latest Bollywood film Chaar Sahibzaade – Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur has raked in Rs 1.31 lakh from two screens, while Rock On 2 performed badly by doing a business of Rs 57 lakh from same number of screens.
Ajay Devgn's Shivaay entered its third weekend and has collected only Rs 3.64 lakh till date.
