Abhishek Varman's directorial romantic film "2 States" is unstoppable at the box office. The film remained the top choice of moviegoers in India, despite running in third week.
"2 States" features Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, while Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathy are the supporting characters.
Romantic film "2 States" based on a novel by the same name has not been affected by the new releases in the past two weeks. The low-budget film has accumulated around ₹94.83 crore within 17 days of its release.
"#2States [Week 3] Fri 1.67 cr, Sat 2.70 cr, Sun 3.13 cr. Grand total: ₹ 94.83 cr nett. India biz. SUPER HIT," trade analyst Taran Adrash tweeted.
The film requires ₹6 crore more to enter the ₹100 crore list, which was started by Aamir Khan's "Ghajini".
The third weekend business was in the same range of Kangana Ranaut's "Queen". "2 States" earned ₹7.5 crore in its third weekend.
New releases "Purani Jeans" and "Kya Dilli Kya Lahore" have opened to tepid response at the domestic market. The two films have already gone out of theatre in several circuits.
Meanwhile, Hollywood film "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has been doing well at box offices after its release in Indian markets this week.
The earning of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is better than its previous release. In fact, the opening day and weekend business of the film is better than several Hindi films that have released this year.
Due to the word of mouth, the business of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will increase. Also, "2 States" will register itself in the ₹100 crore mark by the end of third week.
