Bollywood film "Shuddh Desi Romance" (SDR) dominated over "Zanjeer" at the box office ever since its release. While the Parineeti Chopra-starrer came out as winner in the box office race, the Priyanka Chopra-starrer turned out to be a flop.
Yash Raj Film's "Shuddh Desi Romance", which also stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Vaani Kapoor, has been fetching good figures from the domestic box office.
"SDR", which had a good opening weekend, has maintained a strong position at the box office during weekdays. The romantic comedy film has raked in a total of ₹34.15 crore within six days from collection centres, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The six-day breakup of the film is: Friday ₹6.45 crore, Saturday ₹7.90 crore, Sunday ₹8.92 crore, Monday ₹4.79 crore, Tuesday ₹3.21 crore and Wednesday ₹2.88 crore.
Despite being released in a limited number, the film has done extremely well. The earnings from multiplexes were much better compared to those from single screens.
"They also released the film in limited screens. Out of 1,100 screens, 994 were with multiplexes, so there were only a few single screens showing the film. But its collections are extremely good," trade analyst Amod Mehra told Hindustan Times.
On the other hand, "Zanjeer" which was expected to take the box office by storm has turned out to be a big disappointment.
The action thriller, which is a remake of 1973's superhit film of the same name, has seen significant drop in its collection. "Zanjeer", south star Ram Charan Teja debut Bollywood film, has raked in only ₹14.32 crore from the Indian markets. [Note: The figures mentioned are of the Hindi version of the film]
"Zanjeer *Hindi version* Fri 3.58 cr, Sat 2.89 cr, Sun 3.69 cr, Mon 2.01 cr, Tue 1.18 cr, Wed 97 lacs. Total: ₹14.32 cr nett," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Looking at the figures of "Zanjeer" and "SDR", Parineeti has raced ahead of her sister Priyanka at the box office.
