Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone's "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela" continued its good run on the second day (16 November).
The film raked in ₹17.5 crore on Saturday taking its two-day toll to ₹33.5 crore nett. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#RamLeela continues to win hearts. Saturday Rs 17.5 cr. Total so far: Rs 33.5 cr nett. Expect a bigger total on Sunday."
According to Taran, "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela" collections on Sunday (17 November) are expected to be much higher than the last two days. The romantic-drama became the 5th highest opening day grosser of 2013 (India) next to "Chennai Express", "Krrish 3", "Besharam" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" ("YJHD"). The fillm minted ₹16 crore on the first day of its release. Its second-day collections were higher than its opening day.
The film has surpassed the two-day collections of "Besharam", starring Ranbir Kapoor. The action-comedy entertainer got a better opening (₹21.56) crore than the Ranveer starrer but its collections declined on the second day, owing to poor reviews. "Besharam" earned around ₹28.69 crore in two days which is lesser than "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela" collections.
The film has given Ranveer his biggest opening. Critics believe the actor will move to the top league with the success of "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela", directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Deepika has hit the jackpot once again with her latest release. The actress is riding high following three back-to-back successful films this year, including "Race 2", "YJHD" and "Chennai Express." Her new film with Ranveer could well be another hit in her career.
Besides India, "Ram-leela" is performing well in overseas markets. The film has scored $450,000 on the first day in USA-Canada area. Its collections have surpassed "YJHD" ($430,000), "Krrish 3" ($311,000), "Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara" ($240,000) and "Dabangg 2" ($320,000).
