The third Friday collections of Bollywood film "Grand Masti" are the same as the second Friday earnings of "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" (PPNH) at the Indian box office.
The adult comedy is doing much better than Shahid Kapoor's "PPNH", even though it was released a week earlier. Both films raked in ₹1.25 crore on second and third Friday.
"Grand Masti" directed by Indra Kumar is expected to dominate over "PPNH" in the coming days. The collections of the film escalated on the third Saturday as it raked in around ₹1.60 crore, taking its overall total to ₹91.9 crore.
"#GrandMasti [revised] Week 1 - ₹ 67.40 cr. Week 2 - ₹ 21.65 cr. Week 3 - Fri ₹ 1.25 cr+. Total: ₹ 90.3 cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Saturday.
The film, starring Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi, is now inching towards the ₹100 crore mark at the box office.
On the other hand, "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" directed by Rajkumar Santoshi performed poorly in Indian markets. Its collection dropped dramastically at the end of the first week and the begining of the second week.
The action comedy, starring Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'cruz, has fetched ₹32.75 crore from eight theatrical runs.
"#PPNH Week 1. Breakup: Fri 6 cr, Sat 7 cr, Sun 8.25 cr, Mon 3.15 cr, Tue 2.75 cr, Wed 2.35 cr, Thu 2 cr and [Week 2] Fri ₹ 1.25 cr. Total: ₹ 32.75 cr," Adarsh posted.
