Actor Siddharth's Tamil-Telugu bilingual "Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (TVSK)" is all set to clash with Shiva's "Thillu Mullu" at the box office this Friday (14 June).
Siddharth who was last seen in the racy entertainer "Udhayam NH4" is back with "TVSK", a comedy flick directed by Sundar C.
The film will have comedian Santhanam playing a pivotal role alongside Siddharth. Hansika Motwani plays the female lead. Three popular actors including Kushoo, Vishal and Samantha Ruthprabhu are doing cameos in the flick.
"TVSK" will also be released simultaneously in Telugu as "Something Something." Brahmanandam provides comic relief in the Telugu version.
It would be Siddharth's third film this year. The actor had two releases earlier - "Chashme Baddoor" (Hindi) and Tamil-Telugu bilingual "Udhayam NH4". Both films have won accolades and did good business at the box office.
Expectations are high for "TVSK" as Sundar C returns to direct another family entertainer with comedy as the central theme. Sundar is best at churning out comedy films considering his previous works including "Winner", "London", "Ullathai Allitha", "Arunachalam" and "Anbe Sivam".
It is yet to be seen if "TVSK" would impress film buffs.
Shiva's "Thillu Mullu"
"Thillu Mullu' is a remake of Rajinikanth's classic 1980s film of the same name. Directed by Badri, "Thillu Mullu" also falls in the laugh-riot genre.
Prakash Raj reprises the role of "Thengai" Sreenivasan in the original, while Isha Talwar plays the female lead. The rest of the cast includes Kovai Sarala, Sathyan and Manobala. Comedian Santhanam has a special appearance in this film.
Yuvan Shankar Raja and veteran music composer M S Viswanathan have joined hands to compose the songs for this flick. The film has received a clean 'U' certificate from the censor board and does not have any cuts.
Rajinikanth's "Thillu Mullu", directed by veteran Balachander, is a cult classic. For the first time, Rajinikanth appeared in a full-length comedy flick, which won him accolades for his performance.
Shiva, who is stepping into the shoes of Rajini, would face comparisons with the superstar. Although Shiva is popular for his hilarious acts, the big question still remains - Will he be able to recreate Rajini's magic?
With both "TVSK" and "Thillu Mullu" being promoted as family entertainers, it remains to be seen which of the two films will make it big at the box office.
