Along with Hollywood movie "Interstellar", Telugu releases "Joru" and "Brother of Bommali", have rocked the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office in the opening weekend.
The two-week-old release, "Karthikeya", has also done good business in its third weekend.
Despite lack of hype, Allari Naresh's latest outing, "Brother of Bommali", registered a superb opening at the ticket counters on 7 November. A good word of mouth took its business upwards on Saturday and Sunday.
The film, featuring Karthika Nair in an important role, has collected approximately ₹3 crore at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. It has also topped the business chart.
Another film, "Joru", starring Sundeep Kishan and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles, was released in a decent number of cinema halls on 7 November and received good response on its opening day. But average word of mouth set downward trends for the film on the following days. It has raked in approximately ₹2.5 crore at the global box office in the first weekend.
"Karthikeya", which has done brilliant collection in two weeks, has continued to lure the viewers in its third week. Despite facing tough competition from new releases, it has made brilliant collection in the third weekend, taking its 17-day total to over ₹20 crore.
Interestingly, Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar", which created lot of curiosity among the audience prior its release, has also got good opening in both the Telugu-speaking states. Having made decent business in the first weekend, the Matthew McConaughey-Anne Hathaway starrer has landed in the fourth spot in the business chart of the two states.
However, Manchu Manoj's last-week release, "Current Theega", which made an average collection in its opening week, has witnessed considerable amount of dip in its second week.
