Imran-Kareena's "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" has failed to make an overwhelming start at the domestic box office.
According to early estimates, the romantic-comedy entertainer, which opened to decent threate occupancy, has earned around ₹3.25 crore to ₹4 crore on the first of its release, reported Koimoi.
The film, which released on 22 November, received mixed reviews from critics. Despite having a good star cast including Kareena and Imran, the film has failed to impress.
The average reviews from critics might affect the film's collections in its first weekend. Moreover, the rom-com will be facing competition from Sunny Deol's "Singh Saab The Great" which also released on the same day as the Imran starrer.
Besides this film, "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" will have to battle it out with last week's release "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela", which is doing exceptionally well at multiplexes.
The first weekend collections of a film are crucial. It remains to be seen how the Punit Malhotra directorial, performs in the coming days.
Singh Saab The Great
Sunny Deol's "Singh Saab The Great" has reportedly earned around ₹4.75-₹5 crore nett at the domestic box office.
The film had a good start at several single screens, whereas the other release - "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein - had a upper hand at multiplexes.
Although both the films have low collections, the Sunny Deol starrer is reportedly ahead of the Imran-Kareena starrer. However, the film's performance at the south Indian box office was worse than "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein", according to Boxofficeindia.
One needs to wait a little longer to find out how the film fares in its opening weekend.
