The business of Ajith's "Arrambam" (aka "Aarambam") is going strong even after one week of its release. The action-packed entertainer has reportedly crossed the ₹50-crore mark within a week. [Also Read: "Arrambam" UK, Australia Box Office Collections]
According to reports, "Arrambam" has grossed around ₹30 crore at the Tamil Nadu box office. The film's collections from other states (Kerala, Karnataka and Rest of India) is approximately between ₹7 crore and ₹8 crore. With the inclusion of overseas collections, the film's six-day figure is reportedly pegged at ₹50 crore.
"Arrambam" has the best opening of the year with the film being shown in a record number of screens. The Ajith starrer has emerged as a clear winner, beating other new releases including Vishal's "Pandiya Nadu", Karthi's "All in All Azhaguraja" (AAA) and Hrithik Roshan's "Krrish 3".
The film has received more number of screens as Karthi's "AAA" has failed to live up to the hype generated through the film's trailer and promotional activities. With "Arrambam" getting good response from the masses, theatre owners have reduced the screen count of "AAA" and allotted more screens to the Ajith starrer. The increase in screen count will help the film garner more collections in the coming days.
The film is expected to continue its good run at the box office until next week when two films are getting ready for release. It has been officially confirmed that Vijay Sethupathi's "Rummy" and director Deepan Chakravarthy's "Pizza 2: Villa" will hit screens on 14 November.
The release of new films would mean that the screen count for the earlier releases will decline. In a bid to accommodate two new films, the screen count for "Arrambam" and other releases could be reduced. This might affect their business in the future.
