Golden State Warriors are getting into the groove with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson drilling those threes and Kevin Durant developing a great chemistry with the duo. As a result, they have won five matches on a trot, and have looked in great control in the NBA of late. They will hope to dominate proceedings as they take on Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Friday.
This match is going to be an interesting one and the Celtics hierarchy will be keen to defeat Warriors. The Celtics were desperate to sign Durant from Oklahoma City Thunder, but they failed and he eventually joined Warriors.
If the Warriors' trio of Curry, Thompson and Durant shine at TD Garden, the home team will have a tough time. The problem with teams facing Warriors in the recent past has been their all-round performance. One player or the other always stands up when required.
In their last five victories, the Warriors have scored more than 100 points, which just explains their dominance. Even against a strong team like Raptors, they scored 127 points. Home or away, they are a treat to watch for the neutrals.
The Celtics need to draw a special plan to stop their offensive play, and also look to put up a brilliant performance of their own, on both sides of the floor on Friday. The Celtics have it in them to stun Warriors but a lack of consistency has been a problem for them. They have not been able to fashion three wins on a trot so far, though they have lost three on a straight.
When they were pitted against one of the title favourites Cleveland Cavaliers early this month, Celtics lost the match by six points. They might have learned a thing or two about playing such dominant offensive teams, which will come handy against Warriors.
Make no mistake, the Celtics have done well, winning six, but it is against such teams like Warriors, which will test them to the core. If they manage to defeat Warriors, the Celtics will believe in themselves, which can help them attain greater things as the season moves ahead.
Isaiah Thomas averages 27.2 ppg this season. The guard will have to be at his menacing best to lead his team in the scoring chart, and lead Celtics. But Thomas alone cannot do anything, Avery Bradley also has to get his game right on the offensive end.
