In a first of its kind fundraising event, Japanese porn stars volunteered to 'donate their breasts' for a day.
The 24-hour telethon presented a chance for fans of Japanese X-rated actors to touch and feel their favourite stars. The Land of the Rising Sun saw the bizzare idea raise £15,000 for Stop AIDS charity.
12 adult film stars took part in the event and volunteered to donate their breasts for the fundraiser, allowing fans to grope them in lieu of a charity donation.
The event, dubbed 'Boob Aid' by fans, was organised by Adult Channel Sky Perfect TV as the 12th edition of the annual 24-hour TV event "Eroticism Saves the Earth".
"Making a social contribution while enjoying the erotic" was the motto of the event, according to a report by Mirror.
"I'm really looking forward to lots of people fondling my boobs. I never thought my boobs could contribute to society", Tokyo Sports quoted adult actress Rina Serina as saying.
More than 2,000 people turned up for the event, which turned out to be a huge success in terms of the total amount of money raised.
"It's for charity. Squeeze them, donate money - let's be happy", adult film star Iku Sakuragi said, according to the report.
The annual TV event, which has been going on for more than a decade now, has raised massive funds in the past as well, selling undergarments worn by porn stars to the highest bidder among other ways.
According to a UNAIDS report, in 2010, a total of 12,648 cases of HIV infection and 5,799 AIDS were reported in Japan. Also, according to the report, both HIV infection and AIDS cases are witnessing a continuous increase, with sexual intercourse being the major route of transmission.
