The first-look poster is often an interesting sneak peek into the film, and "Bombay Velvet" offers just that and more.
While Ranbir Kapoor's Johnny Balraj in disheveled hair, hurt marks and machine guns wasn't received too well by critics, Anushka Sharma as Rosie Noronha stuns all with her smouldering look. In the poster, the actress looks every inch a stage-ready jazz singer.
Here are some positive feedbacks:
RangrasiyaHamesha: @anushkasharma's glamarous look in #BombayVelvet gives a classic 50's era feeling! From Taani partner to Rosie, what a superb change!
Rashmi Nayak: I cannnot stop staring at those beautiful eyes! How gorgeous does Anushka Sharma look as Rosie in Bombay Velvet.
NiDhi: @AnushkaSharma @foxstarhindi @FuhSePhantom cute look !! excited for Bombey Velvet
Slated to release on 15 May, this Anurag Kashyap directorial has witnessed unprecedented delays, of which the length (4 hours run time) is a prime concern. To add to this, there were reports of a complaint filed against the crew by a photographer who was manhandled on the sets when he tried capturing a glimpse of RK during the shoot. Since the first-looks were being kept under wraps, it was only obvious for the film's crew to lose their cool.
In other news, since the Kapoor scion is set to play a street-fighter-turned-tycoon in the film, he is said to have trained hard to achieve a chiseled look. It was widely reported that the actor's cook and trainer accompanied him to Sri Lanka, where the film's first schedule was shot extensively.
An adaptation of novelist Gyan Prakash's "Mumbai Fables", "Bombay Velvet" follows the transformation of Bombay and how it came to be one of the biggest metropolitans of the country. Produced by Fox Star Studios and Phantom Productions, the movie also features Karan Johar, Kay Kay Menon and Vivaan Shah in key roles.
