Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra are Bollywood's social media king and queen respectively, while Varun Dhawan and Sonakshi Sinha are selfie king and queen. Shruti Haasan is the most popular south Indian celeb on Twitter.

These celebs have won the first-ever social media awards instituted by entertainment portal BollywoodLife. More than 13 million respondents voted for their favorite stars on social media sites comprising Twitter, Facebook and Instagram under various categories.

SRK acknowledged the shift social media has brought among Bollywood fans.

"Earlier, letters and cards used to be the only way of communicating and thanking them. Now social media has made life easier. I can be closer to all my fans – thank them, hear them out and chat with them. Thank you Bollywood Life and the team for this award. But truly this award goes to all the people around the world who love me and support me unconditionally," he Bollywood Life.

An elated Priyanka Chopra, on being crowned 'Social Media Queen', said: "I always wanted to be a queen. When I won Miss World I pretended I was a queen. So winning this award really made me feel like one. The Queen of Social Media..it's amazing."

The "Dil Dhadakne Do" actress added: "Thank you to Bollywoodlife who have always supported me and the people who inherently think well of me. I am really deeply touched and very moved. Thank You!"
