Bollywood and TV Celebrity Weddings of 2014: Salman's sister Arpita, Rani Mukerji, John Abraham and Others

The year 2014 saw many celebrity weddings. While many tied the knot in a grand style, some preferred to keep it secret and there were those who chose to announce it much later.

Here are some of the best celebrity weddings of 2014:

Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra: The talented actress secretly tied the knot with Yash Raj Films' head honcho Aditya Chopra in Italy on 21April. The hush-hush ceremony was attended by Rani's parents, brother and sister-in-law, and from Aditya's side, mother Pam Chopra, brother Uday Chopra, Nargis Fakhri and close friend Karan Johar. 

Dia Mirza: Actress Dia Mirza married her long-time boyfriend, Sahil Sangha on 18 October in New Delhi; the marriage ceremony was attended by close friends and family members. It was an elaborate, four-day long celebration, including pre-wedding. 

Salman Khan's sister Arpita's wedding: Salman's sister Arpita Khan had a fairy-tale wedding on 18 November at Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, which was attended by several A-list celebs, apart from businesspersons and politicians. The wedding could easily qualify to be called "big fat Indian celebrity wedding of the year."

The royal mansion, which was Arpita's dream wedding destination, was booked for two days for  ₹2 crore and was specially decorated for the grand event. The Khan family even hosted a lavish reception in Mumbai on 21 November, which was attended by those who couldn't make it to the ceremony in Hyderabad.

Pulkit Samrat: Pulkit Samrat married his long-time girlfriend Shweta Rohira, who is Salman Khan's rakhi sister. The "Fukrey" actor who rose to fame with Ekta Kapoor's "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", got married on 3 November at an exotic location in Goa. The lavish wedding was a star-studded affair, with several television stars and Bollywood biggies including Salman present at the ceremony.  

Vir Das: After few years of courtship, actor Vir Das tied the knot with girlfriend Shivani Mathur. Although the wedding took place in October, the couple broke the news much later.

"I preferred my wedding to be a quiet affair. The rule at the wedding event was that everyone (MUST) switch off their phones to spend quality time with each other," said Das in a statement to IANS.

John Abraham: Bollywood hunk John Abraham surprised his fans on 2 January when he wished them a Happy New Year: he married his girlfriend Priya Runchal, whom he met in 2010 in a gym in Bandra.

"Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2014! May this year bring you love, good fortune and joy. Love, John and Priya Abraham" he tweeted, conveying that he has got hitched. 

Aftab Shivdasani: On 11June, actor Aftab Shivdasani tied the knot with his girlfriend of two years, Nin Dusanj. Aftab fell in love with the British-born Indian luxury brand consultant, whom he met through common friends.

Sameera Reddy: Actress Sameera Reddy got married in a traditional, Maharashtrian style to bike designer and entrepreneur Akshai Varde on 21 January. The actress recently announced that she is pregnant with her first child and all excited to welcome the baby next year.

Rakshanda Khan: TV actors Rakshanda Khan and Sachin Tyagi got married on 15 March after dating for several years. The duo met while shooting for the dance reality show, "Kabhi Kabhii Pyaar Kabhi Kabhii Yaar" (2008).

Ranvijay Singh: MTV VJ and now Bollywood actor Rannvijay Singh married his girlfriend Prianka Vohra on 10 April in Kenya. Singh and his London-based fiancé had a traditional Sikh wedding.
