While many Bollywood filmmakers believe in sticking to conventional film titles, some directors these days are adopting different types of titles like "Roy" and "Piku", which are named after the lead characters.
Such films help viewers connect to the central character much before the film is released, while still keeping the plot under wraps.
Here are some of the recent Bollywood films named after the lead characters:
"Bajrangi Bhaijaan": Salman Khan played the lead role of Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi, who was also called Bajrangi because of his devotion towards Lord Hanuman (Bajrangi).
"Roy": Ranbir Kapoor played the character of Roy. "Roy" is a romantic action thriller and apart from Ranbir, the film had Jacqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal in central roles.
"Piku": Deepika Padukone essayed the role of Piku, while Amitabh Bachchan played her father. "Piku" explores the heart-warming relationship of a Bengali father and his daughter.
"Tanu Weds Manu Returns": The film is a sequel to 2011 hit film "Tanu Weds Manu" with the same star cast. Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan played Tanu and Manu respectively.
"Shamitabh": The title "Shamitabh" has been derived from the last two letters of Dhanush's name "Sh" followed by Amitabh Bachchan's name. Dhanush and Big B played the central characters in the film.
"Manjhi The Mountain Man": Nawazuddin Siddiqui portrayed the central character Dashrath Manjhi, a poor man from a tiny village who single-handedly carved a path through a mountain using just a hammer and a chisel.
"Gabbar is Back": Akshay Kumar played the title role as Gabbar. The actor dealt with the serious issue of corruption with an aim to make the nation corruption-free. "Gabbar Is Back", is the remake of Telugu film "Ramanaa" (2002) and stars Shruti Haasan in the female lead role.
"Singh Is Bliing": Akshay Kumar played Raftaar Singh, who is a fun-loving man but is uneducated. The film also has Amy Jackson and Lara Dutt in important roles.
"Bhaag Johnny": Kunal Khemu played Janardhan "Johnny" Arora in the film that also featured Zoa Morani and debutant Mandana Karimi.
"Ek Paheli Leela": Sunny Leone played Leela in the film that also had Rajneesh Duggal and Jay Bhanushali in male lead roles.
