Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Bajirao Mastani" was recently in news when a production house was said to be recreating the magic of the film on the small screen. The new show will be based on the love story of Maratha warrior Bajirao and his second wife Mastani and is expected to go on air soon.
According to a Tellychakkar.com report, Bollywood actress Isha Koppikar will apparently be portraying a key role on the show. The actress, who has been a part of several films including "Darling," "Kya Kool Hain Hum," "36 China Town" and "Don," will be making her TV debut with the show.
"Isha is very excited to be part of the project. She will play a queen and a beautiful warrior, and will have a very meaty role to portray," a source told Tellychakkar.com.
The report further said that the show based on Peshwa Bajirao will be a Rs 100 crore project and will be the most expensive show ever made on the small screen. To be helmed by Sphere Origins, the TV series will be creatively produced by Invictus T Mediaworks. Earlier, there were reports that a huge set in the outskirts of Mumbai city was reportedly set up for the show.
"Bajirao Mastani" turned out to be a hugely successful film of 2015. The plot of the film essentially revolved around the love story Bajirao (played by Ranveer Singh) and his second wife Mastani (played by Deepika Padukone); however, the story of Bajirao's troubled first wife Kashibai (played by Priyanka Chopra) was an important part of the film too.
