After sizzling in the film industry, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza will now make her presence felt on the small screen. The actress will make her television debut with a travel show titled "Ganga The Soul of India."
Dia has been shooting for the show in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, for the past few months and will be seen in a different look this time, the Times of India reports. The tele-series will reportedly give viewers an opportunity to explore some of the most beautiful places in India.
Dia told the daily she chose to work in "Ganga The Soul of India" because it lent an opportunity for her to learn and grow. "Why would anyone deny themselves the opportunity to grow, learn and have fun? I am blessed to be doing work that I love and also earn a living," the actress said.
Recently, the "Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein" actress had received a lot of criticism on Twitter for her controversial tweet during Holi. "The irony of the times we live in: farmers commit suicide due to drought and people waste water to 'play' #Holi.Go ahead call me anti-Hindu," Dia had tweeted. The actress later apologised for her tweet and even released a statement on her official Facebook page saying that she did not intend to hurt any community and that she only wanted people to opt for dry Holi keeping in mind the water shortage in Maharashtra.
Besides Dia, another film actress recently made her TV debut. Amrita Rao stars in "Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai," which depicts the journey of two sisters who turn rivals due to certain circumstances. The new fiction show has been garnering a positive response from viewers. It is a finite series of 130 episodes and features a talented cast including Pallavi Joshi, Zarina Wahab and Deepti Naval.
