Death hoax reports about Malayalam film-maker Boban Samuel has created frenzy among the online community. The news went viral on social media forums like Facebook and Twitter and the director himself had to come forward to clear the rumours.
Boban later came online and wrote on his Facebook page that he is very much alive and amicably added that those who wanted to talk to souls can contact him through his phone. The director also shared the screen shots of those who bid adieu and paid homage to him.
The death hoax news has become a common incident in social media. Recently, it was actor Salim Kumar who had become a victim to such hoax messages. The rumours had claimed that the actor died of liver cirrhosis. Later, he came forward and criticised those who use social media irresponsibly, saying that "social media users are reporters of a newspaper that has no editor."
Many other celebrities like Prithviraj and Jishnu Raghavan had also become victims to social media hoax reports. Jishnu Raghavan got media attention when a picture of him in hospital went viral, which claimed him to be in a critical stage. Meanwhile, Prithviraj was rumoured to be dead in a car accident in Singapore while he was shooting for a film.
Boban Samuel is a well-known face in the Malayalam film industry. He is noted for movies like "Janapriyan" and "Happy Journey" both starring Jayasurya and the hit movie "Romans" starring Biju Menon and Kunchacko Boban in the lead.
Like his movies, the director has taken the latest news about him quite lightly.
