Dhaka, Jan 20 : Poll-related unrest in Bangladesh shows
no sign of easing. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party
(BNP) and its Islamist allies, especially
Jamaat-e-Islami, continue to hold the country to ransom.
Activists of BNP targeted the minority Hindus and
torched Chapotala and Malopara villages in Jassore. They
attacked their houses and shops with crude weapons and
sticks, displacing around 600 villagers. Attacks against
minorities were also carried out in Rajshahi, Dinajpur,
Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Gaibandha. The Hindus, under
the aegis of Acharya Vivekananda Goswami International
group, came out on the streets to raise their voice
against the crimes committed by BNP and Jamaat
activists.
