German auto giant BMW Group sells vehicles under the lifestyle brand MINI and two-wheeler division BMW Motorrad, in addition to the core BMW brand of vehicles in India. The company had opened separate dealerships for all three brands in India, however, the first integrated dealership is now open at Chandigarh, Punjab.
Christened as BMW Facility NEXT concept, the newly integrated dealership is located at 125 Industrial Area, Phase 1 in Chandigarh. Run by Krishna Automobiles, the facility has been set up at a total area of 50,500 sq. ft. The facility includes modern dealership facilities, spare parts and business systems.
The BMW showroom has a seven-car display and a four-car display zone for BMW Premium Selection cars. The MINI showroom features a three-car display along with a display of MINI Lifestyle and Accessories. The BMW Motorrad area will showcase 12 motorcycles along with exciting lifestyle merchandise and accessories.
"The BMW Facility NEXT Concept is our view of how retail will shape and play a crucial role in the brand's interaction with the customers. With this concept, we have integrated all three brands - BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad under one roof, providing a full spectrum of our products and services," Vikram Pawah, Chairman, BMW Group India noted.
BMW is not the first brand launching the integrated dealership setup in India. Piaggio India runs Motorplex stores in India which is a single platform for sale of Vespa, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi brands under the Piaggio group.
In addition to the sale of the three brands of Piaggio, the Motoplex store also stocks accessories that include riding gear and brand memorabilia. The Motoplex stores feature the coffee bar in a typically Italian style, a concept which we are familiar with the Fiat Caffe dealerships -- another Italian brand.
