BMW India has launched upgraded version of the X1 as X1 M Sport priced at Rs 37.90 lakh, ex showroom. The entry-level SUV will be available only in this trim and gets cosmetic upgrades such as redesigned front and rear bumpers.
The compact SUV now comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and a leather-wrapped M steering wheel. The vehicle will be available only in Alpine White and Le Mans Blue shade.
The 3.0-litre, four cylinder, twin turbo diesel engine--developing 184bhp power and 380Nm torque, mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission--continues to power BMW X1. The SUV accelerates from 0-100kmph in 7.7 seconds.
BMW had launched X1 in India in 2011 and it received an update in 2013. The M Sport trim is likely to be the last upgrade as the second generation X1 is expected in India in 2016.
Along with the X1 M trim, BMW updated the 1 Series, which now comes in diesel 118d variant only. The premium hatchback has been priced at Rs 29.9 lakh, ex-showroom.
The new 1 Series measures 4,329mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,440mm in height, which is slightly longer and taller than the previous version.
The reworked front end now comes with bi-xenon headlamps, a larger grille and reworked front bumper. The rear of the car boasts of all-LED tail lamps and twin exhaust pipes that add sportiness.
On interior, the infotainment system has been upgraded with 6.5-inch free standing display. The upholstery has been upgraded and button and knobs get chrome touches. The car comes with single-zone climate control as standard, with the option of a dual-zone system.
The 1 Series powered by the 2.0-litre, turbocharged diesel motor producing 148bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
