While the debate on the launch of the G 310 R motorcycle, jointly developed by Indo-German alliance BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company, continue, a fresh batch of spy shots of the BMW G 310 R has emerged online, indicating that the work on the upcoming model is progressing rapidly.
Although, the G 310 R was earlier rumoured to hit the Indian roads during this festive season, latest reports say that the launch is likely to happen next year by March. The latest set of images of the G 310 R comes from GaadiWaadi, which shows a Blue G 310 R in its fully revealed form. From the image, the G 310 R looks production ready.
The company is said to have already started the production of the G 310 R at the TVS Motor facility in Tamil Nadu. The G 310 R is the first sub 500cc motorcycle of the German bike maker BMW Motorrad. It is also the first BMW motorcycle made in India and also the first manufactured outside Europe.
Powering the G 310 R is an all-new 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves and two overhead camshafts, together with electronic fuel injection. It can churn out a power of 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
In terms of dimensions, it measures 1988mm in length, 896mm in width, 1227mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1374mm. It employs a 300mm disc brake at the front, and 240mm at the rear. It features front upside down forks and mono shock suspension at the rear.
In India, the BMW G 310 R will be pitted against KTM Duke 390 and Mahindra Mojo and is likely to be priced starting at Rs. 1.8 lakh.
