German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad is reportedly planning to launch the new G 310 GS, the adventure iteration of the G 310 R in India next year. The emerging reports suggest that the BMW G 310 GS is expected to be launched in India towards the end of 2017.
BMW Motorrad unveiled the G 310 GS at the recently concluded EICMA show in Milan. The G 310 GS, which takes design cues from BMW R 1200 GS and is powered by an all-new 313cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine with four valves and two overhead camshafts, together with electronic fuel injection. This is the same engine that also does duty in the G 310 R.
The engine can generate power of 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The G 310 GS is the most affordable motorcycle manufactured by BMW Motorrad in partnership with TVS Motor Company.
The G 310 GS measures 2075mm in length, 880mm in width and 1,230mmin height. The Braking in the G 310 GS is taken care of by 300mm single disc with 4-piston radial caliper at the front and 240mm disc, single piston floating caliper at the rear.
BMW Motorrad is expected to commence its operations in India in early 2017. BMW Motorrad is expected to bring all the high-end motorcycles during its entry into the market, while the affordable motorcycle range will be added later.
The BMW high-end motorcycles will be imported from the company's Berlin plant in Germany, while some of the bikes will also come from its plant in Thailand.
